In 1835 a visitor to this town would have seen a busy commercial center with 3 stores, 2 cobblers, 3 wheelwrights, 2 blacksmiths, 2 tailors, a cabinetmaker, carpenter and hatter. There was also a tavern, a grist mill and a flour mill. Today it is a quiet village with one antique shop and art gallery, a tiny post office, and recently a small museum.
In addition to the lovely old houses on the main road, if you take a very short side trip on Sterrett Road you can see a Sears Roebuck mail-order house. The first house on the right was built from a kit ordered from the Sears catalog in the 1920s. These houses are now collectors' items.
Cache has been changed to a bison tube. BYOP
