Winfield
City Lake requires a $4.00 dollar recreation permit to visit the
grounds. You can obtain permits at the Lake Office, now located at
the Marina. Please take a moment to visit the website and read the
rules and regulations. The park rangers are very nice and aware of
the Geocaches at the lake. Please display your permit at all
times.
Special thanks to
QuickSilver1 for helping coordinate with the Park Rangers and
keeping up the good public relations.

This Geocache is located at the
east end of Timber Creek, also known as Winfield Lake. This section
of land is reserved for hiking & biking only, and parking is
available. The cache is located just off a hiking trail that runs
along the side of the ridge. This is my favorite trail here in the
area, and offers a great view of the lower lying area's. I have
observed all sorts of wildlife from up here, so tread lightly.
There are two access points to this trail. The west entrance is at
the top of the ridge, and the east entrance is off of a trail that
runs from the bottom of the ridge to the top. You are looking for a
30 Cal ammo can hidden amongst some of the rocks protruding from
the hillside. Please use stealth as there is usually always someone
here, even if you do not see any vehicles while parking.
Enjoy.
