Geocache Description:

 

Esta cache localiza-se no istmo do Monte Queimado que juntamente com a enseada de Entre-Montes, a enseada de Porto Pim e seu areal, o Monte da Guia e toda a área marítima circundante, formam a área da Paisagem Protegida do Monte da Guia.

Insere-se no complexo vulcânico da Praia do Almoxarife ao longo de um alinhamento de cones vulcânicos. Com uma altitude de 84 metros, o Monte Queimado, é um cone de piroclastros sub-aério do tipo estromoliano de idade recente, enquanto Monte da Guia, como uma altitude de 145 metros, é um cone de tufo vulcânico que teve origem numa erupção submarina de tipo sutesiano, composto por duas crateras sobrepostas abertas para o oceano, no seu lado Sul, formando a Caldeira do Inferno (também conhecidas por Caldeirinhas) que possuí uma extensão longitudinal de 500 metros e largura máxima de cerca 250 metros.



This cache is located on the isthmus of Monte Queimado who together with the cove of Entre-Montes, the bay of Porto Pim and its sandy beach, the Monte da Guia and the maritime area surrounding, form a protected landscape area of the Monte da Guia.

Falls Within the volcanic complex of Praia do Almoxarife along a line of volcanic cones. With an altitude of 84 meters, the Monte Queimado, is cone of pyroclasts sub-aerial of estromoliano type of recent age, While Monte da Guia, with an altitude of 145 meters, is a tuff cone originated from a submarine eruption of sutesiano type, composed of two overlapping craters open to the ocean, in its south side, forming the Caldeira do Inferno (also known as Caldeirinhas) which have a longitudinal extent of 500 meters and a maximum width of about 250 meters.
