I wanted to make a cache that would be protected from planned
burns. So I put this cache on a soggy boggy island in the middle of
a creek. You will get wet! But the creek is clear, cool, and
shallow with a white sandy bottom and you can wade in from the
nearest road crossing. When I placed the cache, the water was never
more than knee-deep. The creek forks a lot and has some sudden
dips. Stay to the left as you're wading and you should get very
close to GZ. Although the creek is sandy, I recommend some kind of
footwear. Watch out for snakes.
You can reach the road to the cache from Ranger Road but the
turn-off and road to the creek crossing are very sandy!
Don't drive them unless you have a serious 4WD. You can park on a
firm shoulder out on Ranger Road and hike/bike in. That's what I
did. It's a bit of a hike if you walk all the way. So I biked to
the creek crossing. Then I wore my swamp shoes and used a trekking
pole to help make my way up the creek.
