Geocache Description:

Updated coords N 35° 30.233 W 097° 28. 024

This cache marks 2 Boy Scout Eagle Projects. There is a train car that was refurbished. It is located inside the Train Museum. Also note the wonderful walking trail on the opposite side of the road. This trail also has a bridge that was built along with the walking path as another Eagle Project.

This is the eighth of 12 special geocaches hidden across Southwest and Central Oklahoma in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. These caches are part of “Get in the Game,” a BSA project to get more boys involved in Scouting through an interest in geocaching.

The Last Frontier Council’s “Cache to Eagle” series of public geocaches are hidden near the sites of Boy Scout Eagle projects. Inside the camouflaged container is a logbook, some swag, and copies of two different cards. You will also find taped inside a very important code word.

One card can be filled out and mailed to the Last Frontier Council office for a chance to win a rare 2010 Scouting geocoin. One coin will be given away monthly as long as supplies last.

The second card is a list of the 12 Last Frontier Council caches hidden around this part of the state. Find all 12 locations and write the code word that corresponds to it, then mail it to the Last Frontier Council office and you will receive a collector’s edition Boy Scout patch promoting the “Cache to Eagle” series.

Patches and coins are available while supplies last, and your entry will stay active until the coins are all gone. AND, you don’t have to be a Boy Scout or adult volunteer to participate!

If you don't find a card in the cache, don't panic. Just make a note of the code word. Cards are hidden in all 12 Cache to Eagle hides, so you can grab one at another cache and start filling it out then.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that — on average — requires 167 service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in service (based on the national volunteer hour value of $19.51). This cache is part of a nationwide series that showcases these special contributions.
