Geocache Description:

This cache is placed and maintained by Troop 54 at the site of our Scout Hut. The cache is a large medicine bottle with camo tape.

Troop 54 has been active for over 50 years, and our building was donated to the Boy Scouts after having served as the local Post Office. The beautiful mural on the north wall was painted by inmates from the Lynaugh Correction Center, located 15 miles west of Fort Stockton. The mural highlights the terrain, and portraits of several historic figures from Pecos County, and also Baden Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts. Our building is along the tourist route through historic Fort Stockton, which includes the Annie Riggs museum, historic Jail, Zero Stone Park and many other points of interest. The local Chamber of Commerce has provided "Paisano Pete" pins that we have placed in the cache to be taken by geocachers. Troop 54 is new to geocaching, but have already found many of the local caches.
