Located near Whitchurch, Shropshire, Danson's Wood is a newly planted (c.2000) woodland created by the Woodland Trust and local people to mark the millennium. This interesting site slopes gently down to the Llangollen Canal and contains a number of hollows and undulations thought to be a sign of land use by a nearby brick works in the 1800s.
A good footpath network and informal paths gives the visitor access to the woodland which has been planted with oak, ash, alder, field maple and wild cherry, all of which are found locally. Mature oaks can be found throughout the site, as well as a semi-mature hedge and a small pond.
Parking is available at a small (free) carpark on the proposed route of the extension of the Whitchurch Arm of the Llangollen canal. From here you can follow the towpath to the western edge of the wood.
Please note that there is NO PARKING available at the eastern entrance to the wood.
