The Necropolis of Radimlja is located 3 km west of Stolac, on the
Capljina-Stolac road. Radimlja is one of the most valuable
monuments of the mediaeval period in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The
majority of its stecak tombstones dated from the 15th and 16th
centuries. These tombstones appeared first in the 11th century and
disappeared in 16th century, when the Ottoman Empire ruled the
country. Most of the tombstones are decorated. Radimlja is on the
list of Unesco World Heritage as an endangered heritage.
