Terracotta I Mystery Cache

Cache is NOT located at the posted coordinates, although they would
make a good entry point into the nearby trails. Cache is a
camouflaged ammo box, located a short distance off-trail under
overhanging rocks. Solve the mystery of the broken urn to find the
cache.

Dear colleague,
Inspired by the finds of famed archeologist Rase-mottes, on his
voyages to Italy (see
link), I recently joined an ongoing dig in the United Kingdom.
Artifacts found in the area suggest the ruins being excavated were
of Roman origin, perhaps dating to the time of Emperor
Hadrian.
I thought I was being a big help, I even managed to unearth a small
terracotta urn. Despite this success, our dig leader, Professor
Adams, asked me to please leave the site and asked that I not
return.
He was not too happy with me. I suspect this was because I am a bit
clumsy and I managed to shatter the urn shortly after lifting it
out of the ground. I thought this piece of pottery was going to be
culturally significant but Professor Adams disagreed, and even
insist I take the broken pieces with me, if I would please just
leave immediately.
Returning home to Canada, the pieces lay nearly forgotten for
months until a happy accident spilled a bottle of fine Italian
wine, an Amarone, on to the collection of pottery. Paint was
revealed where the wine landed showing what looks like old numbers,
letters, and possibly some sort of pictographs painted on the
shattered urn. It had had been hidden under a layer of dirt!
I quickly cleaned the rest of the pieces, and lay them out as you
can see in my photo below. I don't know what to make of them. What
do they mean?
It's for this reason I'm mailing you, my friend, to help me solve
this puzzle.
