Geocache Description:


This is the entrance to Shaker Farm, owned and operated in the 1870's by The Shaker Society of New York, A nearly forgotten religious society,...... Now part of Andrews University Farm. The farm head quarters buildings were located further toward the village of Berrien Springs and some of which still can be seen (where the name can still be seen painted on some of the sheds) After the property was sold by the Shakers it was at one time used at a gravel dredging operation at the river edge, some 3/4 of a mile on the graveled road to the river. Where there are still a number of large concrete blocks that seem to have been used as anchors for the dredging.
