Geocache Description:

Horace had never had much luck with the ladies. Valentine’s Day had come and gone again without a card in sight. “At least,” he thought to himself “it isn’t leap year, so I haven’t had to wait in vain for a proposal.”

Horace had searched all over North Essex to find a suitable partner. Hopefully, he could put the disaster of February 20th behind him (he had tried to impress a girl but walked straight into a lamp post and broken his glasses). He had seen an advert for a speed dating evening on February 26th which he was definitely going to try.  His brother was getting married on August 25 - Horace was going to be best man and would dearly love to take a date to the wedding.

The other week he had gone dancing at El Pato Loco Salsa Club in East Street but nothing had happened there. He went to a party on January 16th, but drank too much cider and ended up being carried home by his brother. He had also booked a holiday for May 27th and hoped that the sun, sea and sangria would bring him a bit of luck.

To take his mind off of his predicament, Horace decided to go for a walk in the countryside. He was ambling along, admiring the flowers in the hedgerows and the birdsong in the trees. As he stopped to have a rest he noticed a plastic box hiding within the roots of a smaller tree in front of a large tree. It had a note book and various trinkets inside. He opened the book and saw lots of names and dates in it, so decided to add his name to the page too.

He was just putting it back and covering it with a mossy log when he heard someone approaching and looked up to see the most delightful young lady. They got talking and it turned out that she was looking for the elusive box that Horace had just found.

So now they go looking for boxes together, and Horace has found happiness at last.
