Geocache Description:

This is Wild Life Series #4 “Eagle”, on Ragged Lake in Terrence Bay Provincial Wilderness Area. For more information on this Wilderness Area, visit this link: http://www.gov.ns.ca/nse/protectedareas/wa_terencebay.asp

This is a series of 22 caches placed along the shoreline and islands in the eastern half of Ragged Lake. This protected area includes some private land and we deliberately avoided the western half of the lake where there are numerous cottages and camps. Access the lake via the 1km ATV trail that leaves the Old Sambro Road at N 44’ 30. 092. W 063’ 38. 142. The road shoulder is just wide enough at this point to permit parking. There is a large parking area about 1 km down the road at Grand Lake which might be a better start point for anyone accessing with kayak or canoe as the portage between the two lakes is much shorter than the aforementioned ATV trail.

We noted some open water on Ragged Lake when the caches were placed on Feb 24/11. Check local ice conditions (visit link) nearby Grand Lake and use common sense before venturing on the ice.

All the caches are placed no more than 10 meters from lake, and are hanging high enough to be winter friendly. They can only reasonably be accessed via ice in the winter or by boat. Enjoy the series and be sure to note any observed wildlife.
