A place of tranquility what-ever the weather, what-ever the season. Simpson Ground and the Forestry Commission's Chapel House plantation is located near Newby Bridge just off the A590 above Staveley-in-Cartmel in South Cumbria. There are a multitude of different routes with superb views and the opportunity to see a wide variety of wildlife.
There are numerous paths heading into the plantation and towards the Reservoir, its difficult to recommend the best, they all offer super views and opportunities to explore the forrest.
For this series of caches I would reccomend parking just beyond the Gummers How car park at the turn off to Sow How (see weypoint).
Walk down the track from here though the farm, onto the next gate then head into the forrest on the weymarked footpath.
To enjoy the circuit allow a couple of hours and you will have the opportunity to be rewarded by a range of wildlife.
In the interests of safety the Forestry Commission strongly recommends that when exploring their forests - you carry a mobile phone and first aid kit and leave details of the mobile number, route and expected return time with a friend, relative or responsible person.
