A usual hide near the end of an unusually short road.
As a matter of fact, this road is so short, the hide is just about the same distance from the start of the road as it is the end of the road!
As you are making this easy find, cast your eyes to the north, and you will see the original home of the Gilroy Garlic Festival. The year was 1979. Dr. Rudy Melone and his recruits had planned for 5,000 people, and 15,000 showed up. They had to recycle the tickets because they had only printed 5,000. At mid-day they had to send people to Monterey to buy more shrimp and calamari. They had to call Budweiser to send more beer. It was a hit!
Alas it was another 2 years before I got to attend a Garlic Festival, and by then it had moved to it's current location at Christmas Hill Park. But I've attended every year since then, and now I'm even involved in the association that runs it!
There is no need to enter private property, and please be sure to pull off the off/on ramp so you don't block any traffic... there is plenty of safe parking space.
