Once upon a time in the valley of the Green there was a very crooked little man. He lived near a very crooked little tree near the not so golden arches.
Every day he would climb into his tree to look for snowbirds, cardinals, vermillion fly catchers, quail, the ever present crazy road runner, coyote, and even bobcat. Life was good and his days were quiet and beautiful .
He was ageless because he drank the magical youth juice from the fruit of the prickly pear.
He and the bobcat and roadrunner often shared stories. They heard how the bobcat lost his tail and how the crooked little man had become crooked in the first place, and heard of all the things the road runner had outrun. It was a wonderful life in the valley of the green.
It was the winter of 2011 and the valley of the green froze white and crisp .It was obvious that something had upset mother nature and it was time for payback. The freeze took all of the magic from the fruit of the prickly pear and the little old man became extremely twisted and wrinkled, and crooked. He started to look like the frozen cactus that was limply hanging all over the valley of the green. Life near the tree as he knew it had changed.
He disappeared as things started to thaw out, but perhaps may return someday.
He did leave a hidden treasure near his wonderful little crooked tree.Enjoy the hunt and be sure to say hello to the snowbirds, vermillion fly catchers, bobcats , coyotes, and cardinals while you are nearby.
