Geocache Description:

We found the Monastery Arseniou accidentally although we are living near Stavromenos. It was founded in the 16th century. An earthquake destroyed Moni Arseniou in 1856 but monks renovated it very carefully in the meantime. As well some monks are living and working in the Monastery and visitors are welcome. We think if you are in this region of Crete it is worth a visit of Moni Arseniou with its two churches. This caused our idea to drop a cache here.

How to find Monastery Arseniou?
Coming from West on the New Road take the exit N 35° 22.972 E 024° 35.268 direction Old Road / Iraklion and turn left to Waypoint 3. Coming from East take the exit on N 35° 22.791 E 024° 34.794 direction Old Road / Rethymno but turn sharp right to Waypoint 3.

Waypoint 3 is on N 35° 22.838 E 024° 35.056 turn right in direction to Pangalohori till reaching the parking area on N 35° 22.411 E 024° 35.531this as well is the cache area.
The cache is a “Nano” and you will find it left from the main entrance of the Monastery.

If you like to visit the Monastery and the main entrance is closed try to get in at N 35° 22.410 E 024° 35.572. Enjoy your visit.
