This cache was named "Skunk Alley" because of something my
father-in-law said to me once about the road (Highway 160) that
parallels this part of the trail. He said that every time he comes
to Willard he sees dead skunks on the road along this stretch of
the highway. There's a good chance you will see some too while you
are driving to this cache.
I hid this cache while walking my dog, Riley. He's got some
beagle in him and if there had been a skunk in the woods while we
were here, I'm sure he would have sniffed him out. We did happen
across an armadillo happily munching away at the underbrush. It
didn't seem scared of us.
Please do NOT attempt to access this cache from the highway.
Park at N 37° 17.596 W 093° 24.554 and then you can either walk
along the paved trail, or you can go off-trail and walk along the
path that was recently cleared by bulldozers (which also destroyed
the previous cache I had in this area - "The Little Red Wagon
Cache".) Be aware that if it rained recently, the bulldozed path
may be very muddy. The cache is located about .57 of a mile from
the parking coordinates.
This should be an easy find. You are looking for a plastic salad
container wrapped in camouflage tape.
FTF will be rewarded with the knowledge that they were FTF.
Good luck and have fun!
