This cache is the tenth in the hidden treasure series. Hopefully I
will find more to share.
The gate is closed from Jan 1 through sometime in March. However it
was open today and I believe certain weekends for hunting access.
I'm not usually a fan of multi caches but this one was a must, due
to another cache being too close. This two stage cache is all about
the first stage. Although the second stage has some pretty cool
rock formations near it.
On your way to the posted coordinates you will have to ford a
creek. My two wheel drive SUV has no problem. There is a place to
park just before the concrete "bridge" near the coordinates. You
will need to cross the creek on the concrete bridge and go upstream
on the left side bank. There is a small unmaintained trail that is
very narrow and on a side hill. This is the reason for the 4.0
terrain. It is not too difficult or steep if you go very slow and
stay off the wet rocks. There is a small rock scramble for the last
30 feet or so. The coordinates should put you on top of a big
boulder between the two bigger falls. This boulder has a tree with
many exposed roots that you will probably use to climb the
boulder.
QUESTION TO ANSWER FOR FINAL COORDINATES: The trunk of the tree on
the boulder at the posted coordinates branches into seperate trunks
just a few feet above the rock.
X = How many seperate smaller trunks does this tree split
into?
Final Coordinates:
N34 41.X89
W083 56.91X
The final is located near the road so use stealth. Parking is
located on the right just a short distance past where the cache is
located. Do not park illegally as I have seen folks get ticketed.
Just uphill from the cache is nice scenic spot.
WORD OF CAUTION!! - Please use common sense and don't put yourself
in any unnecessary danger. Unfortunately too many people get hurt
each year at waterfalls similar to this one because they had to get
a little closer.
Contgrats 6263 for FTF!!! You certainly
earned it!!!
Small note: As required by the USFS for caches hidden in the
Chattahoochee National Forest the cache is prominantly labeled as a
geocache and the label includes the GC2PD9H waypoint number and the
owner's e-mail address. Enjoy!
