TAURANGA'S HYDROSLIDES
Cache is located by the two large Penstocks at Tauranga's Ruahihi Power Station. The building of the Ruahihi Power Station started in 1977 and was commissioned in May 1981. The Power Station gets feed water from Lake McLaren via 3.5kms of canal. The two large Penstocks you can see from the Cache location are 2.3 meters in diameter and 150 meters long. The water flows through these Penstocks to two 10,000 kW Turbines. The Ruahihi Power Station generates 70,000,000 kW of power each year for the Tauranga region..
Cache is a 1.6 Litre round container painted black.
Cache contains log book, pencil and lots of goodies for the kids.
Please rehide well when placing cache back.
Please be very careful around this road as it is very busy. Please also be careful getting to the cache location as there is the odd bit of gorse around. Please access the cache location from up the hill a bit and not straight from the car park as there is a ditch that may be hard to see if caching at night.
