Geocache Description:

SHIPWRECK COVE

Shipwreck Cove or Lock Lake as it know by most people is a great place for a Picnic or walking the dog.

The lake was the entrance to the Portsea section of the Portsmouth to Arundul canal system that was completed in 1823.

Later in 1827 the Portsea section of the canal had to be drained due to complaints about salt water contamination in some of Portsmouth's wells.
