D: Im Jahr 2004 wurde ein Projekt zur Revitalisierung der
Ybbsmündung gestartet. Dabei wurde versucht, die Mündung wieder so
herzustellen, wie sie sich noch in den 40er Jahren zeigte: eine
Insellandschaft mit Kiesbänken und Seitenarmen.
Dadurch entstand nicht nur wertvoller Lebensraum für die Tier-
und Pflanzenwelt sondern auch ein neues Naherholungsgebiet nahe des
Donauradweges.

E: In 2004, the Lower Austrian Federal Hydro-Engineering
Department started the redevelopment of the mouth of the Ybbs
river. The project aimed to reshape the mouth of the Ybbs to the
state of the early 1940s: a landscape of islands, gravel banks and
branches.
This way not only a habitat for animals and plants but also a
new recreation area near the cycle track along the danube was
created.
