Geocache Description:

A nice easy grab in Quincy's downtown square, otherwise known as Washington Park.

Washington Park includes four acres in the heart of Quincy's downtown business district, located on 5th Street between Maine and Hampshire Streets. It boasts of being the first park in the city of Quincy and a place of many historical events, one of which was the Lincoln Douglas Debate. Picnic benches, a ground-level interactive fountain and a band stand are part of the park's landscape. On Tuesdays and Saturdays during the summer months the park hosts a farmers market. Washington Park is the center of many activities during Quincy's annual Dogwood Festival the first weekend of May and the Gus Macker tournament held Memorial Day weekend. Be sure to bring your camera and take your pic with Quincy's first settler, Governor John Wood, standing tall on the corner at "Quincy's Front Door". This cache is part of my goal to see that each of Quincy's 26 parks has at least one Geocache. Congrats to phoebe1 for the FTF!
