A cache and dash with a small part of Witham history included.
The Grove .
The grove was a large private house built by Henry Barwell, a prosperous baize cloth
merchant, in the early eighteenth century. It stood at the northern end of Newland Street,
and
the line of its avenue has been preserved as The Avenue road. It was demolished in 1932
and the site of the house and park built over.
The cache is the road side of the brick wall, do not enter the Marsh property.
The cache is a 35mm film canister with a log and pencil.
This cache site is wheelchair accessible but may need assistance in retrieving the cache from its position.
