This cache is located along an old Hawaiian trail that has been nicely repaired . There are a few steep grades and loose a'a lava rocks. The trail will take you 1 mile along the south Kona coast to Au'Au' point atop an old crater rim. Along the trail you will pass an old Hawaiian burial ground so respect the land. To get to trailhead, If you are traveling south from Kailua-Kona you will pass Mauna Loa's 1950 lava flow that reached the ocean in less than 4 hrs. Go down Kona Paradise subdivision to Pebble Beach (road is a steep grade so use breaks cautiously). Trail head is at the southeast corner of the beach. Respect the owners property you pass by. Wear good shoes(not for slippers) and take plenty of water.
Kila will be looking down from her lanai for all of the geocachers. Use the whistle in the cache. If we are home, we will be watching you from our lanai.(please dont take the whistle)
