Geocache Description:

Originally released for Halloween 2012, the “Haunted Marlborough Series (HMS)” celebrates the rumored historical hauntings of this fine Metro-West city with many colonial roots.

Welcome to the Old Marlborough Hospital!!! Although, you would probably never know it…
The nearby building at 27 Hildreth Street is currently an apartment building. Built just before the Civil War, it was originally owned by Reverend Sylvester Bucklin. On September 1, 1891, it was purchased by the Marlborough Hospital Board of Trustees. Shortly afterward, (January 5, 1893), the hospital opened to the public… but only until Aug. 1894. After barely 100 patrons walked through the doors during that first year, the hospital was closed.

The reports of hauntings have come from the basement apartment. No matter what tenants put on the walls, they would fall off. They would also find that things were moved, or would disappear and reappear later in a different spot. There was one female tenant who was pushed down on the bed by an unseen force and held there. When she was finally released, she ran out – and never came back. The interesting thing about the basement apartment… it acted as the morgue for the old hospital!!!

Since the building itself is on private property, the hide is located just down the street from the building. You are looking for a magnetic micro. Please bring your own pen.

While this is, indeed, a park and grab, I would recommend walking the 200 feet up the sidewalk to view the old house from across the street... If you've ever seen the current Marlborough Hospital. It's pretty amazing to see how small it all began!

Benchmarking Note:
MY3663 (designation “Marlboro Water Tower”) is the closest.
