Chiesa di San Martino

La Chiesa di San Martino nell’omonima località del comune di Griante-Cadenabbia, gode di una posizione di privilegio, dalle cui alture si gode una stupenda vista sui tre rami del lago di Como e sui monti circonstanti.
La passeggiata alla chiesetta di S.Martino è uno degli itinerari più classici del Lago di Como. A soli 475 metri di quota si può godere una vista mozzafiato su tutto il centro lago.
La costruzione della chiesetta (XVII secolo) è dovuta alla leggenda di una statua della Vergine che ogni notte appariva sulla cima della montagna sovrastante (monte Pilone o Sasso di S.Martino). La chiesa è stata edificata sui resti di un appostamento di epoca romana.

Come raggiungere la chiesa di San Martino e la cache:
dal parcheggio (waypoint P1) raggiungete l'inizio del sentiero (waypoint IS) . Seguendo poi l'indicazione per San Martino, si passa il ponticello sul ruscello Ronconi. Una comoda gradinata selciata sale a tornanti alla chiesetta.
Lungo il sentiero acciottolato che conduce a S. Martino si susseguono diverse cappelle con decorazioni a mosaico, raffiguranti episodi della vita di Cristo. A metà strada si incontra la Cappella degli Alpini, dedicata a S. Carlo.

The walk to the church of San Martino is one of the more traditional routes of LakeComo. At just 475 meters you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the lake center.
The construction of the church(XVII century) is due to the legend of a statue of the Virginthat appeared every night on the mountain top above (Mount Pilone or Sasso di SanMartino). The church was built on the remains of an ambush of the Roman era.

How to reach the church of San Martino and the cache:
from the parking  (waypoint P1) reaches the beginning of the trail (waypoint IS). Then follow the signs for San Martino, you pass the bridge over the creek Ronconi. A comfortable rooms paved winding staircase to the church.
Along the cobblestone path that leads to S. Martino is a succession of chapels decorated with mosaics, depicting scenes from the life of Christ. Half way we meet the Cappella degli Alpini, dedicated to St. Carlo.
