You are standing in the parking lot of the Old Skylark Drive Inn Theater ( long gone) that played host to Rock and Roll Legons such as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Conway Twitty, Sonny Burgess and Billy Lee Riley and many more artist and a host of local bands of the era..
In the 1950s, Night clubs and joints along the stretch of highway 67 from Newport to Pocahontas with named venues like Porky's Rooftop, Jarvis Bamboo Club, the Silver Moon, Woody's, Bloody Bucket, Swift Theater, Sunset Inn (had a bear you could give beers or cokes to out front), Danny's Silver Bullet, Hartsills, Charlie's, The Clover Club, Rainbow-Blue Room, King of Clubs, and Mikes all had live music in the day! Bob King’s in Swifton, was the last club standing until Dec. 2010 when it was destroyed by fire.
