Soccer is not on the forefront of American pro sports. However,
Soccer is one of the biggest sporting draws worldwide. In fact,
European Soccer or as they call it “Football” is
watched by over a billion people a year worldwide.
In America, Soccer is mostly watched on Saturdays and viewed on
the pee-wee fields throughout the country. The parents drive
mini-vans and are called Soccer Moms (Dads). But, did you also know
that we have a professional soccer league in America? Yeppers we
do. It’s called Major League Soccer (MLS) and with expansions
and all there are 19 teams. Because of this I have a new challenge
for you.
Your challenge if you so choose is to find at least 17 caches
with MLS Soccer (Football) Team Names (Nicknames) in them. A good
number of these teams have changed names over the years. In fact,
the “Kansas City Wizards or (Wiz)” just changed
their name to “Sporting Kansas City”. Because of
this, you can use previous team names for that city if they have
one BUT these only count as one team. For example you can use
either the “Red Bulls”,
“Empire”, or “MetroStars” to
qualify for the “New York Red Bulls” not all
three. I have included those previous team names in parentheses
below. Finally, you can use the non plural of the words such as
“Truckee River Whitecap” which would qualify for
the “Vancouver Whitecaps FC”.
In addition to finding 17 different MLS Soccer (Football)
Team names please find at least (5) different types of caches or
categories (icons) when posting your finds. (Traditional, Multi,
Unknown, Letterbox, Web, Virtual, Events. etc). This gives the
challenge that extra star boost to the difficulty.
The MLS Soccer (Football) Team Names you can choose from
are:
CHIVAS (USA or GOATS), CREW, DALLAS (BURN), DYNAMO (1836),
EARTHQUAKES (CLASH), FIRE, GALAXY, IMPACT, RAPIDS, RED BULLS
(EMPIRE or METROSTARS), REAL (SALT LAKE or ROYALS), REVOLUTION
(REVS), SOUNDERS, SPORTING (WIZARDS or WIZ), TIMBERS, TORONTO
(REDS), UNION, UNITED, WHITECAPS
You have no time limit on finding the caches. In fact, you may
have already completed the cache requirements. But, if you
haven’t… now you have some target caches to find.
When logging this cache, list your requisite caches on the cache
page with the cache name, gc#, date found, and type of cache as
identified below:
