EDMONTON'S 6th CITO EVENT
WHERE: Laurier Park
WHEN: Saturday, April 30th, 2011 @ 10:00am Start (rain, snow or shine)
Here we are again preparing for a good ol' fashioned city park spring cleaning event!!! Namely, The Edmonton and area Spring CITO 2011!!! This year we are at WILFRED LAURIER PARK.
As usual, it will consist of the cleanup of a very beautiful city park and then a potluck lunch! All Edmonton and area cachers are encouraged to attend, and any and all visiting geocachers are more than welcome to drop by, give us a hand and join us in the festivities!!
CITO (Cache In Trash Out) is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers have been dedicated to cleaning up parks and other cache-friendly places around the world.
Kevin Moore with the "City of Edmonton Parks Department" has confirmed that April 30th works very well for him. He has also booked our spot, Picnic Site #8 at Laurier Park for the day. It's a shelter from rain, has a fire pit, tables and Kevin was willing to provide us with a porti-potty due to the fact the washrooms are not open yet. Thanks Kevin!!
Please bring: extra pair of gloves, garbage collecting sticks, food (see list below) and your spirit to clean up our planet.
For coordination reasons, would you please give us a heads up as reasonably possible if you can attend or not? (and number of people in your party) It will give us all a good idea how much food and supplies we'll need for our event.
There will be a log book on site to document your attendance and in order to log this event we ask that you please try to gather at least one bag of garbage.
SCHEDULE
10:00am (CITO Start) to 10:15am: Let's all meet at the posted coord's for a brief intro to the days events.
10:15am to 12:30pm: Over 2 hours of "CITOing"!!!
12:30pm to 1:30pm: Potluck Lunch
1:30pm to 1:45pm: Group photo taken and prizes awarded
