The trip back from Padre is a long one due to too much shrimp. This cache will help break the trip up a little. We have passed this location many times without notice, but found that it is a cool spot to stop and reflect on the history provided below. You are looking for two "Naked" fruit drinks lids glued back to back hanging on a wire. Use your best stealth skills. This cache is available to West bound traffic only due to the Jersey barrier. PLEASE REPLACE CACHE AS FOUND
End of Watch: Tuesday, September 29, 1981
Trooper David Irvine Rucker was shot and killed while making a traffic stop. Shorty after he was murdered, Patrolman Enrique Carrisalez stopped the same man, not knowing he had shot and killed Trooper Rucker, and was shot and killed as he exited his patrol car. A doctor found the body of Trooper Rucker laid out in the traffic lane, he was holding the identification of the man wanted in the connection of both murders.
