The Adkins Historical and Museum Complex was created
and developed in 1980 by J. Howard and Louise Adkins.
This complex consists of 10 buildings that are preserved
and available to tour for no charge.
The dedication of Howard and Adkins to "preserve the past"
allows us to turn back time more than a century and get a glimpse
into life in the village of Barren Creek Springs.
This group displays their proud heritage through collections,
buildings, and activities that exhibit the environmental
and cultural richness of the region.
The buildings that are available to be toured include:
the Brattan-Taylor Country Store, English-Gravenor One Room School,
Young's Purchase Farmhhouse, Doctor's Office, Memorial Building,
Cannery Warehouse, Livery Stable, Odd Fellows Hall,
Whitelock Victorian Home, and soon to be completed
Rockawalkin Train Depot.
All buildings are furnished as closely as possible to the period.
To schedule a tour,
please phone 410-677-4740 and leave a message.
