St James is located on the site of the original parish church of Trowbridge on the edge of the Market Place. Built in the perpendicular style the present building dates from the 14th and 15th centuries. Major restoration was undertaken in the mid 1800s and again in the 1990s when the top section of the spire had to be replaced after it blew off in a storm.
