You will need to calculate the cache location by using clues found at various way points. The purpose of this cache is to provide a location to exchange new and gently used Golf Discs.
I am happy to welcome you to the L.P. Golf Disc Exchange located at St. Mary's County's first Disc Golf course. Disc Golf is a game played like ball golf, substituting specially designed Frisbees for the balls and Irons. Instead of sinking your putt into a hole, there are baskets designed to catch your disc. The object of the game is to have the lowest score and the most fun. If this is your first time to a Disc Golf course, you can read the rules posted by Waypoint 1. Also, check out the nearby bulletin board for special events and course maps.
A few years back, Lancaster Park expanded to include the area formerly known as Lexington Manor. Lexington Manor was a small, planned neighborhood built for use as base housing. The houses were familiarly known as 'Flat Tops', owing to their unique shape. The neighborhood has since been demolished and converted to a Disc Golf Course; perhaps the only course with cart paths! There is a fine example of the former housing preserved near Tee 1. Take some time to peruse the information plaques adjacent to the last remaining 'Flat Top'.
To find the actual cache, you will need to solve the following equations:
A =((Distance "C" at Waypoint 3) + (Distance "A" at Waypoint 2)
B = ((Distance "A" at Waypoint 4) + (Distance "A" at Waypoint 1) + (Distance "B" at Waypoint 5 )+ 5)
and plug it into the following formula:
N 38° 15.A W 076° 26.B
Each way point will bring you close to a small informational plaque that will also serve to acquaint you with the front half of the course. You will need either the distance to the hole or the number of the hole to complete the puzzle. Once you've solved, on to the cache. You are looking for a container large enough to hold several Golf Discs as well as a few trade items. The coords were averaged by hand and should be pretty close. When you find, please trade fairly and enjoy the course. If you are new to the game, feel free to 'borrow' a disc and give the game a shot. Make sure to return the disc at the end of your game. If you are an old pro then you will know what to do.
Feel free to bring along a trash bag and help remove some of the copious debris left over after sixty plus years of human habitation. Please pay attention to the posted park hours and obey the park's rules and regulations. Do not attempt this cache after dark!
