Geocache Description:

This cache is located within sight of the Canberra VOR (VHF Omni Range) and DME (Distance Measuring Equipment) aircraft navigation beacons.

VORs (its actually a Doppler VOR) use complex electronics to produce a simulated rotating beam that aircraft can use to determine the bearing to the beacon.

DME's receive and send pulses from/to aircraft so that the aircraft can measure the time delay and thus the distance to the DME.

There is room to pull off the road at the gate, but be careful - it is a very busy road. Cache is the road side of the gate, so dont even think about going through!
