Geocache Description:

This a short multi cache which requires you to visit 2 locations to gather information, then on to the final location to find the cache. On road parking is available near the published co-ordinates, please do not obstruct any nearby properties. A short walk through these lovely woods, unfortunately not really accessible for wheelchair users. **06/08/2023 - The Info board at the 2nd Location has gone. So I have added the figures that you needed to get from the board.**

The cache is an ammo box full of books for adults & children. We would like to keep it a * Book Swap cache,* so please bring a book along with you if you would like to do a swap. Cache also contains a log book, pen, pencil, geocaching info leaflet & FTF certificate, plus a selection of books & bookmarks. St Helen's Woods are a stunning area of ancient woodland & horse grazed semi-improved & flower rich grassland. The site is owned & managed by the St Helen's Park Preservation Society, who have kindly given permission for the cache to be placed. The woodland and grazed meadows have a rural open country feel, which makes this park very special. The ancient woodland consists mainly of high forest with little coppice, although some hazel & alder coppice does exist. Coppicing is a type of woodland management that requires cutting the trunks almost to their base to enable them to produce many vigorous shoots. This is not only beneficial to the trees, but benefits many woodland plants & animals. The above co-ordinates will take you to the entrance to St Helens Woods, there you will need to solve the following, which will take you to the 2nd location - A = Number of animals carved into wooden sign above gate + 3. B = Number of symbols on middle section of wooden sign + 2. C = Number of red circles on middle section of wooden sign. D = Number of words under symbols on middle section of wooden sign divided by 3. E = 5th number on date on back of wooden archway. F = 6th number on date on back of wooden archway. To find the 2nd location, presume - N50 52.ABC E000 34.DEF ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At the second location, answer the following - G = Ancient woodland is woodland that has been under continuous woodland cover since 1?00AD(6). H = ? leaved Helleborines ~ number of letters in missing word(5). I = Number of sponsor's at bottom of information board(6). J = Number of stone supports holding the benches up, under the big tree. K = Number of letters in the name of the bird pictured on information board(8)+1. L = Number of butterflies pictured on information board(1)+ 1. To find the Cache location, presume - N50 52.GHI E000 34.JKL. In the middle of the woods you come to a wide open path known as The Ride, which was in local history precisely that for the gentlefolk. ~ Follow this to the end & then cross the tiny bridge & take the small path up the small steps. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please look out for dog walkers - they have a habit of sneaking up on you here as they walk silently. Please use stealth, & replace cache upright & well hidden. After finding the cache, you can then come back out onto the small path, & follow the path upwards, which will lead you back to the suggested parking, or venture off back down into the woods to discover more of these lovely woods.... There are also frequent events held in the woods, posters advertising these events can usually be found in and around the woods. * Please supervise young children whilst in the woods, as there are a couple of ponds & streams around.* * The paths can get rather muddy in wet weather, so appropriate footwear is recommended.* ** AS PER GEOCACHING RULES YOU CAN ONLY CLAIM A FIND IF YOU SIGN THE LOG SHEET **
