Inchdrewer castle stands on high ground overlooking Banff and out to the North sea. Cache area is best approached from the A97 Banff to Aberchirder road.Parking is probably best at the start of the track.
Built in the 16th century the castle was home to the Ogilvies of Dunlugas who were made Lord Banff. In 1713 Lord Banff was murdered, it is thought his servants robbed and killed him before setting fire to the castle. His spirit is said to haunt the castle to this day.In 1971 the castle was purchased by its present owner and partially restored however it is now deteriorating and need of some serious repairs. The cache is a small click lock box .The castle and grounds are private property and should not be entered.
