Geocache Description:

Welcome to Longleaf Pine Preserve!

I highly recommend a bike or horse to reach this cache as it's a pretty long hike from the parking area. Bring plenty of water. Cell phone reception was pretty good, so you have a lifeline in case of an emergency.

Terrain is level, but parts of it are a little rough.



If you've made it this far, you deserve another smile. But it's going to take a little extra effort, read on...

You can do the work before arriving, or you can do it when you get here...that's up to you.

This is an offset cache. Start at the 3mi Red/Blue trail marker post and go 37 feet on a heading of 293 degrees (roughly Northwest) to the nearest power pole. On the base of that pole you will find a stamped plate with an identifying number...make note of that number and go back to the 3mi marker.

If that number is 8Y490, project a waypoint 995 feet on a heading of 220.5 degrees to find the cache.

If that number is 9Z501, project a waypoint 988 feet on a heading of 83.5 degrees to find the cache.

Now, go get that smile!!!
