Geocache Description:

What a great adventure you will have on the Pacific Crest Trail. Be wise and plan ahead. Visit http://www.pctmap.net for maps and http://www.4jeffrey.net/pct/ for potential water conditions. Try to get the big three (pack, shelter, and sleeping system) to under 10 pounds. Weigh everything. What could you live without? The lighter the load, the further you go! :) Post the gear you brought for others to see. Thank you.

Here is a list of the gear I brought with me for my adventure:
1. 65 Liter backpack (overkill in size and weight)
2. Self-inflating sleeping pad (too bulky and heavy)
3. 3-mil 40-gallon trash bag to line inside of pack with
4. Synthetic 25-degree sleeping bag with synthetic long underwear tops, bottoms, and socks inside (Too bulky and heavy. Save and buy a down bag)
5. REI half-dome two person rain fly in white kitchen 13-gallon trash bag (On the heavy side, but protected me from rain and snow on my adventure)
6. REI tent ground cover with white 13-gallon trash bag. (Leave the tent body at home. Too big and heavy.)
7. Parachute cord tied directly to the tent ground cover. (8 feet at each corner is not long enough)
8. 1 Liter Vitamin water wide mouth filled with H2O
9. 1 Liter wide mouth Vos water bottle filled with H2O
10. Snow gloves
11. Freezer ziploc bag filled with Ramen noodles, Idahoan instant potatoes, macNcheese, oatmeal packets, and tortillas
12. Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, sunscreen, lip balm
13. Eton American Red Cross Self-Powered USB cell phone charger for when I return to civilization

REI Flash 18 Day-Pack:
1. Backpacker's Pantry meal for two
2. First-aid kit
3. Swiss army knife (find the smallest and lightest to save weight. Mine was too bulky)
4. JetBoil SOL cooking system (Priceless)
5. Two plastic spoons (one may break)
6. 3 Liter water bladder (Thinking about leaving this home next time due to large space it takes up and the availability of water on the trail.)
7. Emergency blanket and sleeping bag
8. 6-AA lithium batteries
9. 6-AAA lithium batteries
10. Nylon rain pants
11. Nylon rain jacket
