In the Mount Sheba Nature Reserve you will find this easy (grade 1)
hiking trail of about 800m through some of the most beautiful
indigenous forest.
The hiking trails are open to the public and you do not need to
be an overnight guest to walk these trails. The trails in this
reserve are a hikers paradise with from the easiest to the much
more difficult trails. For your own safety however, please sign in
and out at reception at the resort, especially if you want to do
one of the more difficult hiking trails.
The GPS reception might not be spot on because of the tree cover
and you may find the hint handy.
This was an alternative route from Lydenburg to Pilgrims Rest
which was used by transport riders to transport goods to and from
the gold fields. This route was much more difficult than the route
over Robbers Pass but it also reached other mining settlements
which were scattered around the area.
