How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

This is a regular sized lunchbox container that can hold medium sized trackables. It is located next to the River Wensum as it flows on its way into the city centre.

You can access the cache from two directions: from the North from Marriot's Way or Sloughbottom Park, or from the South from Waterworks Road (just off Dereham road). It can be accessed either by foot or bicycle.

The cache is located within the Wensum Local Nature Reserve. To the North East there is Mile Cross Marsh which is open to the public. To the South West there is Sycamore Crescent Wood. To the North West there is Sweet Briar Marsh which is private property (no entry) and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

As this is a nature reserve please respect the wildlife and remember to practise Cache In Trash Out. Also if you're not sure where it is please use the clue instead of trampling stuff down. You don't need to damage any plants to find this.

The area is usually quite quiet but there are allotments nearby so as always use stealth when retrieving and replacing the cache.

You do not need to get very close to the river to get the cache but if bringing junior cachers do take care as there is deep water nearby.
