Geocache Description:

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America requires years of dedication and hard work. In addition to 21 required merit badges, each Scout must complete a project that — on average — requires 167 service hours. In 2008 alone, that translated to $16 million in service.

This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called "Cache to Eagle" that showcases these special contributions. William C. and Alex Y. from Great Neck's Boy Scout Troop 10 have brought hundreds of hours of volunteer labor to the task of restoring the Virginia Point portion of Udalls Cove Park and Preserve, in cooperation with the Udalls Cove Preservation Committee(UCPC). They removed rubbish, rebuilt foot trails and installed rustic split rail fencing. NYC Parks Dept provided huge volumes of wood chips to cover the trails and the UCPC provided the fence. More trails have been laid out by the UCPC and will eventually be cleared.
More projects have been completed here by Max L. of Troop 10 (footbridge, trail improvements & tree planting, 2015)and Alex Z. of Troop 153 (split rail fence, trail improvements and tree planting, 2013) since the cache was placed. Many more besides these!

You are looking for a hidden lock-it container not far off the trail. Depending on the tides and conditions, your shoes will get wet or muddy. There might be difficult water crossings. Tread lightly over the flora and watch for thorns & poison ivy! Please rehide cache well.

THIS IS OPTIONAL!
IT’S OPEN TO ALL GEOCACHERS –NOT JUST SCOUTS!
This is just one of twelve caches in the "Cache to Eagle" series that will be placed by the Theodore Roosevelt Council. Each cache contains a keyword. Write down the keyword on the inside cover of the log book. When you have the keywords from all twelve "TRC, Cache to Eagle" caches, send an email to get your patch. While supplies last.
