This cache is part of a nationwide geocaching series called "Cache to Eagle" that showcases these special contributions. In Tackapausha Preserve there are many Eagle Scout Projects, all great contributions to the community. Here is some of the Eagle Scout Project info - I'll update this as I get more info:
- The labyrinth on the front lawn was the project of Eagle Scout Philip L.
- Several Eagle Scouts have worked on the garden for their projects, including Sean R. of Wantagh Troop 96, John G. of Farmingdale Troop 46 and David S. of Wantagh Troop 656.
- The new flower boxes, signs & ledger boards in the garden were the project of Eagle Scout Salvatore C. of North Bellmore Troop 577.
- The information kiosk near Jerusalem Ave was the project of an Eagle Scout
- The mud bridges placed along soggy trails are Eagle Scout projects.
- Trail clearing & marking, as well as building a barrier for a nesting area, was the Eagle Scout project of Ryan D. from Troop 690 in Seaford.
This is a three stage multi-cache with a hidden lock-it container as the final. All stages are within the preserve and not far off a trail. It's about a 2 mile hike from start to finish. Choose your entrances wisely! Please tread lightly over the flora. Preserve hours are dawn to dusk. Eisenhower Dollar for FTF!
