**DAYLIGHT hours are best for the hunt due to area of the Cache.**
The nearby Lions club is one of 45,000 clubs worldwide. The Lions Clubs International started out in June, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois and quickly grew to be an international volunteer organization.
They are best known for fighting blindness -- as it's part of their history as well as their work today. They also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects -- including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.
They are also known for their work with Leader Dogs of the Blind, which has a School in nearby Rochester, Michigan.
The "PoP"-Connection:
For many years, my late grandfather ("Dick" R.) came here on Thursday evenings to meet and spend time with other Lions Members of all ages. Not only has he been a Member, but he was a Club President, a District Governor, and also held other Offices-of-Distinction within the Organization over the years.
My dad, Bruce, was also part of the Club until his passing in 1972 at the far-too-young age of 23, but i know he also enjoyed his time here as well.
During a recent Ceremony here, commemorating my Grandfather's 40-year Membership of the club, many warm and happy memories were shared with my and my uncles about both my Dad and my Grandfather.
I have spent time here with my Grandfather over the years, trying to learn what the organization is all about, and contemplating the possibility of becoming a Member as well. So far, that has not happened, but that may change with the recent events of my Grandfather's passing.
