Geocache Description:


Footpath 185 links Bowers Gifford from St Margarets Church to Benfleet Railway Station.

This cache series is our first placed and hopefully will encourage others to enjoy the walk through the fields as we have with our children and dog for the last few years.

During the walk you will take in views across Bowers Marsh currently being preserved as a wetlands project and nature reserve. Once complete there is a possibility that with the guidance and assistance of the custodians there may be an extention or trail through the new reserve.

Please be patient and do not place ANY cache within the reserve without permission.


Dogs are permitted on the public footpath but NOT within the nature reserve, so please respect this exclusion and ensure that any dog is kept under control and away from any livestock/wildlife.
(potential for cattle grazing within though I have never seen any and nesting birds etc.).




It can be a bit wet here sometimes and there will be horses so take care and keep all dogs on a lead as you pass through the paddocks, stables and farm, alternative route is to retrace your steps to Watlington road heading north to Jotmans Lane where you can take the road through the middle of the farm.

There is no room for trackables etc, you will need to bring your own pen.


As you approach note the clue for cache number 5. Nearby there are signs that others have not taken care to note this fare warning
