Geocache Description:

In New Zealand we often answer "It's just around the corner" when asked how a far a place is. A corner can be 5 minutes away, or even an hour away! Depending on the activity!

Most people will probably find this cache by starting at Otehei Bay. Leaving Otehei Bay, find the cache TBN - Mini Island Cache first. Carry on up the hill towards the trig. Keep climbing to join the "Northern Loop Track". The loop takes you around to Urupukapuka Bay. There are lots of spectacular views on the way, which give you reasons to stop and take rests! If you are only doing an island stop over you should be able to find both caches before your boat departs. Urupukapuka Bay is a great camp site, run by the Department of Conservation. There are lots of walks on the Island. All well maintained and easy to follow. From the cache, you can see Piercy Rock (Motukokako Island) which is home of the famous "Hole in the Rock". You can't see the hole though...it is "just around the corner". The cache itself is "just around the corner" too from the DOC directional sign. After finding the cache, continue along the track...there is an archaeological site "just around the corner". (A kumara pit.) It is then a gentle drop to Urupukapuka Bay where you can have a swim, followed by a cold shower! To get back to Otehei Bay, take the "short cut" back up to the Lookout, or follow the lower track "around the corner". All tracks well signposted. Enjoy the Bay!
