Note: A diversion through Fermoy will allow you to grab a
few caches when en route between
Dublin and Cork and also allows you to avoid the toll booth on the
M9 motorway at Rathcormac
CAUTION: This cache is situated near open

and animals are present.

Description
The Blackwater Way is a 168km, long-distance walking trail. It
is divided here into 15 sections each representing a half days
walking. The trail starts in Clogheen and ends in Shrone
This section of the walk (section 7) comprises a 14.5km stretch
beginning at Fermoy Bridge and finishes in Ballyhooly and is an
"easy" 5 hour trek along 6km of road, 6km forest/track and 2.5km
paths/river bank. OSI Discovery Series 81 and 80 or the Blackwater
way Map Guide cover the walk.
The trail itself offeres magnificent views of contrasting wild
bog, mountain, forest, glens and historic settlements all in the
beautiful isolation of North Cork.
The Cache
Parking is available on Street in Fermoy and from the provided
parking co-ords the cache is a 10-15min walk along the river (Don't
Miss St. Bernards Well on the Way!)
This area floods quite regularly and the last part of the path can
be muddy! So Please close and replace with care to stop the
contents getting wet. When you find this easy hide don't forget to
look towards the river where the Lonliest Bird Box should be
visible... Although not required to log please take a photo of your
visit if possible and post with your log!!! All going well I am
going to out a bigger container in place of the micro soon enough.
Happy Hunting
