The Area
Mount Jerrabomberra is located just outside the ACT in NSW, and
separates the suburb of Jerrabomberra from Karabar and the rest of
Queanbeyan. Mt. Jerra was was given to the city of Queanbeyan in
2003 by Woden Contractors Pty Ltd for use as a bush
reserve.
Access
Jerrabomberra Hill road is a service road that winds around the
mountain to the reservoirs and telecommmunications towers. The road
is not open public vehicles, but many joggers, mountain-bike riders
and dog-walkers can be encountered on the road. Parking is
available at the base of the road (off Halloran Drive).
Wildlife
Mt. jerrabomberra hosts a wide variety of wildlife - rosellas and
lorikeets, wombats, snakes and lizards, many many spiders and of
course the odd kangaroo. While placing the cache I was attacked by
several large mosquitoes, so bring the Aerogard!
The Cache
The GZ is on the very tallest part of the mountain. There is a
very rough gravel track that leads up to the GZ and is virtually
muggle-free (see photo). Near GZ are the remains of the survey
marker, three bent metal poles (see photo).
The cache is a standard tupperware-style locking container with
notepad logbook and pencil but please note the container is
inside a camouflage-patterned nylon drawstring bag, which may make
it more difficult to spot.
The cache contains a special prize for the First To Find in the
form of a custom LEGO minifig with a special "F2F" logo!
Enjoy! Any feedback about placement, difficulty or the rating of
the cache is happily received!
Official joint FTF props to Just a cacher, Mr_Roo and Black
Bunny!
