All that remains now of this little track are the original shed at the front that acted as the office and behind is what I remember as the little maintenance shed. There is even still the original coke advertisement on the side of the office. I cannot remember the original name of the go-cart business, but it was probably something brilliant like... ‘GV Go-Carts’.
I’m not sure whether the concrete paths and tracks that are still evident had anything to do with the go-cart track, or if they were constructed at a later date.
But in my memory the track looked a little like this.
Well... maybe not, but it would’ve been pretty cool if it did.
The only thing that I really remember about this place is my opportunity lost. You see... I never, ever got to have a go on the carts while this place was operating.
To race the carts you had to be over a certain age ( which my friends and I were not), or you had to have an adult sign you up.
My friends and I had it all planned. Our parents were going to sign us up and we were going to race our little hearts out.
Two problems though. One... We never got around to telling our parents our plan. Two... The place closed down before we got around to telling our parents our brilliant plan.
So there you have it. An opportunity lost.
The Cache:
The cache is a micro with only room for a log. Sorry, no room for swaps or pen, so please BYO.
Please don’t miss this opportunity like I did. :(
