Geocache Description:

Another in my Cash and Dash series.

In 1984-1989 I was President of the Mira Mesa Park and Rec's Council. We were deficient seven parks in Mira Mesa, and we were committed to getting them built, or else. We filed a law suit against the SD City Council, which resulted in a building moratorium in the 15 Corridor until Mira Mesa was brought up to code both in the numbers of Fire Departments we should have (we had one, was required by City code to have three), a larger library, and we were short seven community parks by City Code.

Pardee Construction came to every meeting stating how they planned to get us the needed Parks, could we just agree to lift the building moratorium - nope, not until we saw construction start on the Parks. Maddoz park was built that first year (1986) and I was the community representative who got to dedicate the park (which was held on a portable stage set up where the dog park is today.) Before I left office we had Hour Glass Parks under construction (equated to two parks). We never did get all seven parks build, but hey we got three FD stations now, and a larger library.

By the way - this is the only Dog Park in Mira Mesa.
