The River Great Ouse flows from its source at Syresham near Brackley to the sea at King's Lynn, running through Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. The Ouse Valley Way is a network of footpaths along this magnificent river from 'source to sea' - making this route one of the longest river valley walks in Britain which was formally opened in May 2004.
This is one of a series of caches being placed along this official Long Distance Footpath. The idea is to encourage more people to explore the whole route. However, it can be broken down into day walks.
This series will eventually have 140 caches. It was started by, and is being managed by The Red Duke and if you would like to help by placing some caches in the series (especially the sections West of Bedford) please contact The Red Duke via Geocaching.com so he can co-ordinate things. Caches 126 and 127 complete a continuous 76 mile line of caches between Bedford and The fens. Anybody up for a challenge?
The classic way to do this cache is as part of a walk along the whole Ouse Valley Way. If you are walking the whole route or even just a section of it please let us know in your log message.
The cache consists of a small tube attached by a wire and containing a log but no pencil. To retrieve the log please unscrew the bottom of the container leaving the top attached to the wire.
